But I'm after little button quail which are only $120 a pair . If I could afford $400 for black breasted button quail I would.
Thanks Nathan

Before go buying birds Nathan, you need to do more research. The little button quails need live food to rear young, and from memory you don't supply any, so they are a no go for you at the moment I would say. Live food is ALL the babies eat for the first couple of weeks of their lives, so unless you are prepared to supply lots of live food for the quails, they are not for you.Nathan Morleyy wrote:Does anyone know were I could buy a trio or two of little button quail I would like to breed them.

King quail would be a good species of quail to start with Nathan. Readily available, do well on greens, and will parent rear their young.

*sigh* Me thinks your first question should have been " What are the requirements of Button Quail ?".
King Quail are gawjus little no fuss Quail and do not need live food .
Oh wait before you buy them do some research on their affects on a finch aviary ie. causing night frights etc .
Gotta walk before you can crawl Nathan , can not just buy buy buy and then when things go pear shaped ask why why why .

Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.

Go with king quail first, that'll help you build up some quail-breeding experience and confidence before moving on.
Another plus of doing that is that because LBQs are becoming more commonly kept they might even be a bit cheaper when you are ready for them ;)
