Yes, indeed a beautiful mutation. In Australia we only have one type of cardinal, Red Crested Cardinal. Total numbers left of the Red Crested Cardinals is not known for sure, but they are very rare. A large Australia wide survey of finches and softbills found just a couple of people owned them.
