Hello,
After about a 15 year break (I used to keep Goldfinches as a teenager), I have gotten back into finch keeping a year ago - and now I wonder how I ever stopped! I am a great believer in getting as much information as I can from people that have experience in that field, so that is why I have stopped lurking and joined this forum. It looks like a great asset for information and advice so I can continue to keep my birds happy.
Cheers
Jake

Thanks for the welcome, everyone.
To tell you all a bit about my collection (I guess that would be the thing to do now) I only have the 1 large cage at the moment (about 2m x 1m x 0.5m ) which has a pair of red faced parrot finches, a pair of chestnut mannikins and as of last weekend, a pair of orange breasted waxbills. My wife knows though that when we get out of our current rental property and buy a house, it is getting a large aviary.
I used to have a pair of jacarinis but they didn't last the winter this year. Mind you, they were quite timid and the hen parrot finch did seem to harass them a fair bit. I think the mix of personalities in the cage is a lot better now.
