Hello all, this is my 1st post here. I have a problem with a Zebra Finch. She has lost feathers on her cheek, just 1 side. I have trested her for face mite but it just doesnt seem to clear up. Its not over preening.
I read somewhere on here about mixing dettol with cooking ooil at 50/50 and applying with a cotton bud, do you think this would be worth a try on this bird? Im not sure how to post a photo on this site.......any help/tips i'd be greatful

Is it alone in the aviary ? Could it be another bird doing it ?

doesnt look to bad from here, but how old is this bird? whats its diet like is it getting grit /cuttlefish or any other suppliments , I have had a few like this over the years that were caused by over preening and older birds.....pete

Welcome to the Forum. I find the 50/50 Dettol/Cooking oil mix effective on canarys leg mite on the rare occassions when it shows up.
