Thought i would look and talk about something different as we seem to speak of the Blue Gouldian alot. Silvers and Pastels to me seem to be off the side a bit and not talked about. I know Pastels are limited, i love them. Silvers not muched talked about and never really seem to see any and i guess they are snapped up quickly. I dont know, mayb some other breeders can add to this?
My plans this season now that i have bred a few Blues and a Silver are to make the most of geting Blue,Silver and Pastel out of my pairings.
A couple of pics of my Pastel. And will try and get a shot of my Silver i was lucky to get from a Split pair. :D

Gomer the Pastel is from last year, i lost the hen during the first clutch the 2 had and lost the 5 young. Bought a possible split blue hen but all eggs were clear, so he should have a new mate this season. My Blues are well on the way just the head colour is slow but i know what head colour they are anyway. The Silver has a fair bit on the chest to colour up yet and the head hasnt looked like changing yet.

He is a little ripper Amca, he loves the panic grass too I see. My Silver hen has finally fledged 4 but im not home to see it. I banded them the other day but they seem to be dilutes and greens, sad but nothing wrong with more true splits I guess. All others in the aviary are coloured or split. they are all looking terrible, waiting to moult out. No pics until they have refeathered! :D

Plenty of different grass seeds around the home and always plenty of chickweed.

Nice looking Pastel well done.

At the moment I'm just concentrating on breeding healthy Blues and Yellows once I'm happy with them then Pastels & Silvers is something I'll have a try at Breeding in the future.

I can say 1 thing and even though its your first season with gouldians Amca Im sure u will agree, to noobs, growing or at least feeding plentiful quantities of half ripe grass seeds will do wonders for your gouldian nest of young or any grassfinches for that matter, I think its the key to success over sprouted seeds although many might disagree with me on this one :) Your Pastel boy definately looks the goods even this time of year   what ever your doing keep it up.

I still heard a rumour, started a thread about it but no bites...that blue plus yellow is a healthier bird than blue alone
