Where in the US are you headed to?
If you go to Texas you should go to the Dallas World Aquarium which reportedly has the biggest collection of toucans in the US, along with a host of other rare South American fauna.

If in California you should try to see Jerry Jennings at Emerald Forest Bird Gardens- an awesome place to visit also.

San Diego Zoo & the Wild Animal Park are also worth a look- rare lories & parrots, pheasants, tanagers etc, a stack of waterfowl.

You don't have to go to the Americas to see toucans. Close to home they are at the Bali Bird Park. If you are planning a trip to the Philippines I can put you in contact with someone on Negros that keeps toucans and they are at the Jurong Bird Park in Singapore too.
