G'day my name is josh

I've just joined this forum as I was told about it through the grape vine lol
I breed gouldian finches in Sydney's hills area. I am currently looking for a couple of pairs of blues & silvers.
If anyone can help or know someone who can I'd really appreciate it. I currently breed the standard red, orange & black heads and also have some euros. Also looking to expand my euro collection as well. Look forward to chatting to other gouldian breeder as well. Cheers :-)

Sam that maybe so in NSW,but in Vic as you know we have a very hardy strain of blues that are just as strong as normals.Reason is,the birds are always out crossed to good strong normals and always bred as a split to a blue not a blue to blue as some had done in NSW and given the mutation a bad name as weak.
If it is done right your blues will become stronger. Cheers Craig

Again, a new member with a desire to breed the birds he has an interest in,and the blue gouldian knockers are sticking the boots in again, and this time by a MODERATOR,why not try and encourage new members to breed the birds they wish to breed,if you don't like the birds simply don't comment, on a lighter note,hi Josh and welcome to the forum, breed the birds you want to breed, please feel free to pm me when you have 5 posts and we can discuss the blues, garyh

Welcome

I am done with my first season of blues. Had some highs and lows but no more or less than with my siskins.

They are a little more involved than your stock standard zeb or plum head but if breeding blues was easy then everyone would do it.

Im no expert but pm whenever you need a hand as shared experience helps a lot.

I also have a heap of split blues and fewer blues that will be ready by September/October.
Breeding Project 2020-2025.
agate mosaic canaries, agate yellow mosaic canaries, red zebs, self bengos and goldfinch mules.

Gary, unfortunately you have misconstrued my intention. My comment although somewhat "tongue in cheek" was designed as a mark of respect to a new member who is willing to give them a try. Firstly, I'm just one person, and the thought of blue knockers doesn't appeal to me either  . I don't personally know of anyone who has found blues to be as hardy as normals, including some with vast experience. They do have special housing requirements - It's no secret that most who toss them in an exposed backyard aviary have had great difficulty keeping them on the perch. And as Craig mentioned, it does seem some of our Vic. friends have got stronger lines going.
