Perryheslop wrote:Hi rob, I bought birds recently from qld, cost $300 altogether for a door-to-door service (would of only been $230 if i already had a freight box), pickup from seller's house and dropped off at my door in melbourne. Was very easy, and I don't mind paying the extra for convenience! They didn't offer any insurance but I understood it was sent at my own risk. As long as you put some food in the box for them to eat on their journey, you should be fine (ie., pupae maggots, endive for water content, etc). Feel free to pm me for details of the freight company if you like :)

$300 sounds a bit pricey. How many birds did you transport? I see some places quoting $90 on petlink (withconditions??) anywhere interstate capital cities.

The to the door delivery is what made it so expensive
Last week a box weighing 4 KG went from Albury to Brisbane for $102
It would be cheaper capitol to capitol but I delivered them to the airport
and they were picked up at the airport. You get what you pay for.

Everything seems harder, more expensive or outdated
Including the much simpler and easier licencing system? Or would you like to fill in log books like the "other side" have to?

Rob its not that hard once you get the idea of it , Westie is the best to talk to on the matter . You have to add an inspection fee on top of all that as well , its easier to bring in a few more birds to help cover costs . Don't let it put you off , as its sometimes required as some birds can be hard to find .. Pete
