A laminated badge with a clip isnt going to cost the earth and can be as big as needed to be noticed . It could be done as a print out and laminated by members themselves ....no cost to AFF and small $$ for members to print and laminate , punch a hole in it for a pin or buy those one that you slide a printout into.
Embroidered badges cost a small fortune and have to be made in bulk ...no good .
Lanyards are another good idea /

My pet hate with name badges is the attachments.
Pins put holes in your shirt and clips only work if you have a shirt pocket- although you can attach them to your collar.
The best ones I have seen are magnetic- they can be worn with any clothing without damaging it.
I bet they're not cheap but will find out at work tomorrow.

just wearing the shirt is even better though. and maybe making a jumper too would solve the problem? expensive though...

Everyone opinions matter.
Been thinking about this and Im sure there is a badge maker somewhere close will have a look and see what they offer.
I have seen badge makers at fairs and things like that, badges seemed cheap from memory.
