All very true Eorix . Until they amend the no food/water policy I wont be moving any more birds by plane oh its still free to park at the airport here but they do offer secure parking at a price . :D

My longtails really go for the moths I release each morning - might be worth considering for yours.
Not sure what went on with the diamonds. I'm sure they were sitting, but now they've built a fresh nest right above the old one and the last few days they seem to be sitting again - only one out at a time. I've had this happen before with previous diamonds.
I gave the siskins some temites this morning just to see what happens. The cock bird ripped into them within a minute or so - a bit unexpected. From what I've heard they're not supposed to be big livefood eaters.

When did this no food no water rule come in and from what airport to what airport.
I sent birds out a couple of weeks ago and there was both water and feed in the box and both were visible.
Only someone without any knowledge of live stock would try and implement a rule like that.

Melbourne to Sydney via Qantas then Sydney to Dubbo on the Qantas domestic plane . The fella I bought the birds off said this was normal and that it was the norm and also mentioned that they wouldnt freight them over 30 degrees ..
As said all was good but how many times does freight end up on the wrong plane or at the wrong destination ? Could have been a disaster .

I've had birds go to & from Melbourne via Sydney, Coffs, & Brizzy, & never been prevented from supplying food & water, infact some birds can not go without food & water for any length of time, & would not survive even a three or four hour flight.

I read over the iata rules for live animals today at work. I am pretty sure that it had seed and water must be provided. I would be really surprised if these were asked to be left out. I will check again in the morning and see what I can find

No one really believed me when I posted the subject back when it happened . I already feel negligent in not insisting the birds travel with at least water .

:? I think the person that told you no water or seed, just got it wrong. It just doesn't add up, very odd.

Your situation really shows the value of this Forum.
Most likely the person had no idea and put his own opinions on it.
What has come out of this post is people now have more knowledge in freighting birds.
If you haven't freighted before you obviously would take the other sides instructions, now you and others know from members
who have already sent birds what is required.
Just remember birds going into WA have different quarantine regs and from memory all birds are photographed
