Can you tell me more Hammer please ..I dont have Lorries as yet and it was one of the reasons I wanted them ( getting rid of the squirt ).

There's a free bag somewhere at the Port Macquarie tip!...........nothing of mine would touch them. I tried to use it up by blending some with my home-made dry mix but it has a God-awful smell......chucked nearly the whole bag out...........

My home-made dry mix, made up in smallish batches for freshness beats anything else hands down..........The squirts are natural for Loris, we put up with it coz we love them .........Purple crowns, Varieds and Littles make alot less than Scalies & Rainbows........great personalities like poitta said

Deb, I totally agree with Hammer & Mick.

Watery droppings are natural for lorikeets. If you see their wild droppings they have a smaller faecal component, a small amount of white urate & lots of clear urine. This reflects the high fluid content of their diet.

Birds fed a predominately dry diet pass white pasty droppings- nothing like the wild droppings. This can have deleterious affects on their body over time, particularly their kidneys and livers.

I think we need to consider what's best for the birds, not what's easier for us to clean.

And by the way, I find the watery droppings much easier to clean than the pasty droppings, particularly once they dry.

Rainbows and scalies are much more generalist feeders and can adapt to many diets. That's why they've been so successful. The smaller guys are not so forgiving.

Most of the opinions online about Vetafarm pellets is put there by yes Vetafarm . Ok looks like the pellets are a no no , I thank you for your replies ...

The price of Linnies is falling. saw a cobalt cock for $500 recently, and even then they weren't moving.
Just hold on and they'll be in your price range...you'll just have to build another aviary!!! ;)
