First up ...Whats this ? We picked it thinking the finches might like it for nesting but it has seeds as well which they might eat .

And the Sunflowers Im growing ...when is the best time nutritionally to give these whole to the parrots .?

Firstly,i don't no what that seed is but it looks pretty safe to use to me.Place a small amount in with the birds and they will let you know if they like it or not.The sun flower,i would let the head start to dry out first and break it into pieces and let the parrots extract them themselves as this gives them something to do. hope this helps Cheers Craig :wave:

iis it panic grass/ guinea grass. mine is seeding at the moment, other than that I am clueless. like DB says with the sunflower let the flower dry out abit ....pete

Hey Pete, the avatar suggests DB but the rest suggests that its crocnshas. At least you have a good eye for picking lessers :thumbup:

Poitta is right its panic grass 2, you can give it to them anytime if You give it to them now they'll destroy it and pull out tiny Green seeds or let it start to die and they will get more mature seed. Its really up to you try both ways and then you'll find out which birds will prefer which way.

I have that grass in my weed garden, my birds love it. The zebs will pick the seeds out then put it in their nests.

Not sure on the grass, but it is not Panic, with the sunflower, farmers harvest towards the end of Feb, early march, depending of coarse when it was planted, wait till the seed has filled & the stamen start to come of when touched.

sorry crocnshas, the lights are on and no one is home around here at the moment. How did I miss that , now learn from my mistake people and only have one part of the forum open at a time that way you dont confuse oneself.....pete
