Just a quick hi, I'm from Camden nsw been breeding German roller canarys for a couple of years now, I'm in the process of building a finch aviery, just wainting to get in touch with other finch breeders.

Thanks guys. A question is a licence needed to keep Australian natives. Ie fire tail or double bars

You do need a licence to keep some Australian species, double bars included. Here is the link to what you need. The licence isn't expensive though.

Thanks David from Camden, that's a coincidence haha. Strange I brought a pair of double bars from a bird shop but sadly lost the hen.

Pet shops and breeders are supposed to check your licence before selling to you. But a small number occassionally forget. Not recommended as this can cause problems with the authorities when the numbers do not add up. Go get a licence. Double Bars I have found do best in mini flocks of 4 or more. Oh and Welcome to the Forum.

Welcome to tbe forum. Nice to see another Sydneysider joining up! What size aviary are you building and what are you planning on keeping? A mix of natives I take it?

I'm building an odd shaped aviary 2 sides 5m 1 4m in a triangle and 2.4 high Just planing on mixed aviary mostly natives but I do have a pair of cordons as well.
