Hi everyone, I am putting together a moulting seed mix for our gouldians trying to follow the ABK Gouldian book. However we haven't been able to get hold of French Millet. What would be a good substitute for it? Thanks. :)

No, the Fidler and Evans one is a lot more technical. We were considering buying it but I think it is beyond us at this stage and the new one is $80. so you did well to get one for $5.
The one i am referring to is A guide to gouldian finches and their mutations. By Rob Marshall, Milton Lewis, Ron Tristam, and Terry Martin.

Im not sure where your from flab,As you have not filled in your location in your profile. But white french millet should be very easy to get.It is very accessible here in Vic.And can be bought from any produce store,Also should be available in any good rural store,As it is also feed out to horses among other animals.

Just did a google on white millet subs and the nearest I got was white rice ( was referring to a human diet) . You would have to go in depth to find protein % fat % etc etc then compare it to other seeds .
I get mine form a produce store if thats any help .

Hi, Kukulas Bros in William St Perth have bulk White Millet seed at $2.50 Kg. It's a great shop that sell all kinds of seeds, nuts , dried fruits etc.
Hope this helps. Cheers Greg.
